18 passengers escape death as ‘danfo bus’ gutted by fire in Maryland, Lagos


18 passengers on Friday evening escaped death as a yellow commercial bus popularly called danfo was gutted by fire along Ojota-Maryland road in Lagos.

The fire incident sent shivers down the spines of people as many were seen coming out thieir cars in trepidation and scampering for safety.

The unfortunate inferno attracted scores of residents as many were making efforts to quench the fire while some were busy calling the emergency lines of Lagos State Fire Service.

The incident resulted in massive traffic jam for about an hour at the ever busy axis as people prevented vehicles from moving beside the burning bus.

As at the time of filing this report, men of the Lagos State neighborhood Safety Corp and few military men had come to the scene. The security men later allowed vehicles to move and the traffic jam reduced.

The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but TheAdvcate gathered that no life was lost as all the passengers quickly jumped out of the bus when they saw heavy smoke in it.
