About twenty-six Nigerians have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean sea.
It was gathered that the affected persons are women and are suspected to have been sexually abused before being murdered at the sea.
The BBC reports that Italian prosecutors have opened investigation into the deaths of the women, who were said to be mainly teenagers.
Further report indicates that their remains are in a Spanish warship – Cantabria – at sea also said to be taking hundreds of other migrants, including Nigerian survivors.
Before their death, the Nigerians were said to be on a rubber boat alongside 64 other migrants.
