FG halts sales, registration of SIM cards


The Nigerian Communications Commission has given directive to all Mobile Network Operators to immediately halt the sales and registration of SIM cards for how.

The statement was released by the irector, Public Affairs at NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, in a statement on Wednesday.

Acccording to the statement, the reason for giving the directive is to allow the Commission to audit the Subscribe Data Base.

The statement made it compulsory for all network providers to comply with the directive.

He added that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami issued the directive

According to him, the Federal Government might grant an exception through the commission.

He warned that strict sanctions await any telecom operator who refuses to comply with the Minister’s directive.
