Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said that the only thing that will put a permanent stop to the clash of herdsmen and farmers is to ban of herdsmen and cattle movement from the North to the Southern part of Nigeria.

Ganduje explained that the ban would go a long way in  putting an end to the frequent clashes.

The Governor said this during a parley between governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State over the weekend.

In an interview with pressmen, Ganduje urged the federal government to enact a law banning the movement of cattle across the country.

Ganduje said: “We are building a RUGA settlement in Samsosua forest, our border with Katsina.

“My advocacy is that we should abolish the transportation or trekking of herdsmen from the Northern part of Nigeria to the middle belt and to the southern part of Nigeria.

“There should be a law that will ban cattle movement, otherwise, we cannot control the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers and the cattle rustling which is affecting us greatly.”
