Nominee for the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, is being grilled by the Senate.
It will be recalled that last week, President Muhammadu Buhari nominated Bawa as EFCC chairman, urging the upper legislative house to confirm the appointment.
If he scales through the screening, he would be the first head of the agency that doesn’t have the background of police.
After reading the President’s letter , Senate President Ahmad Lawan said the screening exercise would be held in plenary.
Bawa who is one of the pioneer EFCC cadet officers from 2005 is 40-year old.
At present, he is the Lagos zonal head of the anti-graft agency.
He is expected to take over from Mohammed Umar who has been in acting capacity since July 2020
More to come..
