President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmad Lawan has warned that Nigeria is not out of the woods yet as regards youthful restiveness
He added that another EndSARS protest may erupt in the country if the challenges of unemployment is not tackled aggressively.
The senior lawmaker issued the warning during a budget defence session at the Senate chamber with stakeholders. in the agriculture sector.
In his words: “We escaped this #EndSARS protest; any other one may be inescapable”.
He noted that agriculture sector remains the most viable sector that can absorb the teeming unemployed youths in Nigeria.
According to him, the government should be more practical and purposeful l with budgetary allocations for the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Let’s meet them where they are and f them are in the rural areas. Let’s give them what we can and keep them in the rural areas and make their lives productive. On our part, we are going to be accountable”.
He called on government to be more serious with the agriculture sector so as to diversify the economy
“We need to be practical. Other countries have made it through this sector. Anytime we talk about diversification the first thing we mention is agriculture. We must work the talk for the sake of our economy and our youths”, he added
