Reps reschedule public hearing on suspended SEC DG

The public hearing on the conflict between the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and the suspended Director-General of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mounir Gwarzo, has been rescheduled for January 2018.

This follows a notification by the Minister of Finance seeking permission to attend the Federal Executive Council meeting which continues today.

The letter was read by the chairman of the committee, Yusuf Tajudeen, who he explained that there was a need to hear from both sides and, therefore, the hearing should be shifted.

Adeosun had, on November 29, 2017, suspended Gwarzo over several financial allegations.

His suspension was in order to allow for an unhindered investigation of several allegations of financial impropriety levelled against him.

This was contained in a statement signed by Deputy-Director, Press, Federal Ministry of Finance, Patricia Deworitshe, on Wednesday, November 29.
