Against the backdrop of myriad of challenges bedevilling land matters in Lagos; a team of experts have decided to organise an historic summit tagged “Lagos Land Summit: Problems , Property, Prosperity” on November 12 and 13 at Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island Lagos.

The purpose of this summit is to bring all stakeholders together with a view to rubbing minds together on vital issues affecting land in Lagos. One crucial issue that will be discussed is the problem of land dispute; which has become a common trend in Lagos State. The pundits will come out with necessary solutions and suggestions on how to resolve land disputes whenever they crop up. Also, the roles of Lagos State Government, police, judiciary and traditional institutions on land disputes will be discussed at the summit.

The summit will also beam searchlight on the impact of land grabbing committee set up by Lagos State Government to solve land disputes and how it has been able to rein-in the menace of local land grabbers popular known as ” Omo Onile” in the past two years.

Furthermore, the issue of delay in getting formal documentations on land ownership will also be x-rayed; that is, the challenges in getting Certificate of Occupancy and Governor’s consent. The team of experts will cross-fertilize ideas on how to proffer solution to the delays. This discourse is very essential because land owners will not have access to credit facilities in Nigerian banks with untitled landed property; thus It is imperative to diagnose the problems and suggest the necessary solutions.

Issues that will also be discussed are the problems of double titles and fake titles on a particular land. The factors responsible for those challenges will be discussed extensively at the summit.

Finally, the summit will analyze the pivotal roles land can play in the economic development of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. Land is a veritable tool that can ratchet up the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, of Lagos if well harnessed.

The crux of the matter is how we can manage our lands to yield maximum profits in terms of huge revenue that will give prosperity to the people. After the deliberations, a communiqué will be released on how to move land matters forward in Lagos.

This event will be organised by Confederated Facilitators Limited, and the convener is Mr. Lai Omotola. Thanks.
