The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has charged troops not to give Boko Haram insurgents a breathing space, adding that they can defeat terrorists without foreign troops.
Buratai, in a morale boosting letter to the troops, asked them to keep up the tempo of their battle against the insurgents.
He hailed them for their courage which, according to him, has helped in decimating the leadership and ranks of Boko Haram insurgents and their affiliate ISWAP in various parts of the Operation Lafiya Dole theatre.
Army spokesman, Sagir Musa, quoted Buratai as expressing confidence that the troops would soon bring the Boko Haram insurgency to an end.
He said that having done it before, he has no doubts “they will do it again without any foreign troops around”.
He asked them to continue to dominate the theatre and maintain high standards of professionalism.
Buratai said he had foreseen that with the renewed zeal, “it is just matter of days to end the menace of Boko Haram insurgents”.
He said his confidence in total victory has further been rekindled by the determination of the troops on the ground.
“I am more confident now than ever before with your current robust posture that you will end the BHT/ISWAP menace in no distance time,” he said.
