The Anka Emirate Foundation in Zamfara, has constructed four pit latrines toilets at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Anka town, Anka local government area of the state as part of effort to curtail the habit of open defecations in the camp.
The Chairman Finance Committee of the Foundation, Abdullahi-Muhammad Janjunan-Anka disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Gusau on Saturday.
Janjunan-Anka said that the Foundation found it necessary to carry out the project in order to improve environmental sanitation and hygienic condition in the camp.
“We are so concern to tackle open defecations among the IDPs in order to prevent diseases outbreak in the camp.
“You know, unsanitary environment may lead in resulting diseases out break such as Gastrointestinal and typhoid diseases among other”, he said.
According to him, the Foundation had last week donated relief materials worth over N1.2 million to over 1, 000 IDPs in the camp.
He said the items donated include mosquito nets, mats and blankets aimed at preventing the victims from mosquito bites which leads to malaria disease.
He thanked the Emir of Anka and Chairman of Zamfara state Council of Chiefs, Attahiru Ahmad over his concern and support to the IDPs.
He urged all stakeholders to emulate Anka emirate in providing assistance to the victims.
