Nnamdi Kanu: I Reject the Notion of Biafra Seccession – Soludo

Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has firmly reasserted his belief against the notion of Biafra’s secessionist perspective and movements.
He articulated this position during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday.
This statement emerges as he expressed his intention to converse with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, about envisioning an alternative direction for Igbo land following his anticipated release.
Soludo, who aspires for reelection as governor of Anambra State, emphasized that the Igbo community requires Nigeria just as the nation requires the Igbo populace.
However, he did not oppose the protest scheduled for October 20, 2025, advocating for Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
I hold a strong conviction that, while the agitation and secessionist thoughts prevalent in Igboland exist, I, as a proud and devoted Igbo man, cannot align myself with such beliefs. Yet, I wish for us to engage in a dialogue. I firmly believe the Igbo people need Nigeria; likewise, Nigeria requires the Igbo people.
When Nnamdi Kanu emerges from custody, we will convene around a table to thoroughly explore our alternative aspirations for Igbo land, he remarked.
This announcement coincides with Omoyele Sowore’s initiation of a nationwide protest, demanding the liberation of Nnamdi Kanu.
The IPOB leader was apprehended in Kenya and has since remained under the custody of the Department of State Services.
