Anambra Guber: Violence Will be Met With Strong Response- Ribadu Vows
Ribadu The National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a stern warning that any manifestation of violence during the Anambra State governorship election will provoke a resolute and uncompromising response from security entities.
Ribadu delivered this admonition on Tuesday in Abuja, during a congregation of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, ICCES, alongside officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He was represented at this crucial meeting by Hassan Yahaya Abdullahi, the Director of Internal Security at the Office of the NSA.
The NSA reassured that the Federal Government has instituted extensive security measures to guarantee a harmonious, free, and credible electoral process on November 8.
“As we gear up for the Anambra State gubernatorial election on November 8, 2025, we have curated sturdy security frameworks,” Ribadu articulated.
“These measures encompass augmented surveillance, deployment of adequate security personnel, and enhanced intelligence collection to thwart any attempts by disruptive factions or reckless politicians to jeopardize the electoral integrity.”
He underscored that political leaders and candidates are obligated to uphold peace, emphasizing that security forces would not bear any acts of violence or disturbances that could unsettle the state.
“Any occurrence of violence during the elections will invoke a robust, unyielding response,” Ribadu cautioned.
The NSA pointed out that the Police, in conjunction with other security forces, have been thoroughly mobilized to ensure sufficient protection for voters, election officials, and electoral materials before, during, and after the voting process.
Meanwhile, INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, reaffirmed the commission’s readiness for the Anambra gubernatorial election, noting that all logistical and security arrangements have been meticulously finalized.
