The Senate has backed President Muhammadu Buhari on the sacking of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal.
A probe into the alleged mismanagement of funds under the Presidential Initiative on the North East by the Senate had indicted Lawal.
He was subsequently suspended alongside former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke, who also got fired by the President.
In his remarks on a point of order raised by the Deputy Majority Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, at the plenary on Tuesday, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki lauded Buhari for “doing the right thing on this matter.”
The President had on Monday immediately after the sack of the two, appointed Boss Mustapha as the new SGF.
