“Don’t cave in to pressures from politicians,” Tambuwal tells ICPC

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) not to cave in to pressure from politicians.

He made this charge during the commissioning the zonal office of the agency in the state on Monday.

He added that the task of fighting corruption is what must be done by everybody in the society.

In his  words: “I am appealing to you to continue to resist any pressure from some of us, political leaders.

“We all know the reality of the situation and we must avoid politicization of the fight. Is a collective one. We must support it devoid of interference,” he added

Thr Governor also raised the issue of anonymous petition which was meant to blackmail individuals, calling on the anti-graft agency to look into the matter.

He charged the National Assembly to improve the process of investigations.

“I hope this appeal will be considered by the National Assembly so as to save the precious time of Investigators, even the cause of law and other people involved in the investigation and prosecution of cases of corruption in the country,” he counselled.
