Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has insisted that are no evidence to prove the murder of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni (Junior), hence vindication of indicted students and his school, Dowen College.
The Commissioner made this shocking statement n Friday when he addressed a press conference and gave updates on the investigation into the cause of the death of the late student.
“At the end of diligent investigation carried out so far, there is no evidence to establish a case of torture, bullying and forceful application of poisonous substance against the suspects. All the suspects denied the allegations of torture, bullying and administering of poisonous substance to the deceased. Allegation that the deceased was being forced to join a cult group was also not established as other students interviewed denied this,” he said.
The death of the 12-year-old has set to tongues wagging after autopsy report revealed that the boy’s death was as a result of infections.
The report was in contrast with claims by Sylvester’s family that he was reportedly bullied and made to drink a substance by some senior students of the school.
It should be noted that a coroner’s inquest into the death of the 12-year-old will begin on Saturday, January 15.
