Fleeing bandits kill 30 persons in Niger community

Disaster struck in Niger State on Wednesday as no fewer than 30 persons have been killed by suspected  bandits in Kachiwe and its adjoining villages in Sarkin Pawa headquarters of Munya local government council of the state.

It was learnt that the victims were said to have been killed on Wednesday by the armed bandits who allegedly left their hideouts in Kaduna State to execute the dastardly act.

Secretary to the Niger State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane confirmed the attack in an interview in Minna,

He did not however give actual numbers of those who were killed from the attack.

He however, said that the Niger State government was not resting on its oars in an effort to rid the state of crimes and criminality and appealed to Niger residents to provide security agencies with credible information in order to succeed.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Bala Kuryas has confirmed the attack in a telephone interview in Minna.

According to him, an investigation into the matter has commenced to enable them to track down the perpetrators of the criminal act.

According to him, a team of policemen have been dispatched to the area to safeguard the lives and properties of the people of Sarkin Pawa.

On the attack in Kagara, Rafi local government council of Niger state by armed gunmen on Tuesday, the CP, said three people have been killed, so far.
