Insurgency: Governors approve $1bn from ECA

In a bid to press the fight against terrorism, the Governors Forum has approved the withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account for the ongoing fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the north-east.

Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents after the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chambers of the State House.

Obaseki said the approval was announced by the chairman of the NGF, and the governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari.

The governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Dankwambo,who spoke earlier, said the Excess Crude Account had a balance of $2.317 billion as of December 13, 2017.
