Nigeria not a failed state despite numerous challenges- Lawan

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, has declared that Nigeria can never be a failed state despite the utterances and predictions of ‘’dooms-day-prophets.”

The Senate President made this remark on Saturdaywhile flagging off the 2021 empowerment project to 2,000 beneficiaries of Katsina Central organised by Sen Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya,

Acccording to him, the government of President Mohammadu Buhari needs the support and prayers of every Nigerian.

He said “Those who were saying that in the present circumstance, caused by insecurity, that Nigeria could turn a failed state, approaching a failed state or may likely end up a failed state, are missing the point because Nigeria can never be a failed state.”

“Again, they forgot that when a state of emergency was declared in some parts of the Northeast during the tenure of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria did not turn a failed state talk less of the present.

”It is necessary that all stakeholders should join hands with the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari to overcome the present challenges facing the nation,” he said.

Speaking, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State called for collective efforts irrespective of party affiliation

In his opinion, Senator Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya noted that ever since he got elected, without thinking of solutions to the numerous challenges of his constituents, Katsina Central Senatorial District

He said ”all the social intervention programmes which the federal government has initiated for the citizens of Nigeria, Katsina Central has been a beneficiary. Even though the spaces are limited, I have carried the people along,” he said.
