The House of Representatives has moved s motion, calling on the Federal Government to extend the deadline for the implementation of new rules guiding SIM card registration.
Nigerian Communication Commission had given two weeks to all telecom operators to block SIM cards whose numbers are not registered on National Identification Number, NIN.
The Tweet from House of Representatives handle reads: “The House of Representative has moved a motion on the urgent need to call on the Nigerian Communication Commissionnto increase the 2weeks deadline for the implementation of the new sim card registration rules and it was seconded by Rep. Francis.
“Rep. Elumelu called on the NCC to extend the period of the exercise to a more accommodating one and that the House committee on communications should ensure compliance. Rep. Toby Okechukwu moved a motion for amendment to call for a 10 week time frame
